Developing Positive Student Relationships in a Correctional Facility

Mr. Dutcher started teaching at the Heritage Trails Correction Center in 2020. Before that he taught Band, Orchestra, Choir, and Music in public and private schools for twenty – seven years. He has received several awards throughout his teaching career for his education and presentation skills.

This training will explore ideas and practices that can be used to develop positive relationships with offender students. We will explore how to get to know, build positive relationships, and develop trust with the offenders in your class. Participants will receive several strategies for creating a positive and nurturing classroom environment with their offender students.
