Miriam Santana Valadez
Miriam is a Mathematics Instructor at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) where she teaches mathematics in American Sign Language (ASL). She has 27 years of teaching experience: 9 of them in her native country Mexico, 4 at the Rochester City School District in Rochester NY, teaching regular and bilingual groups, and the las 14 years teaching mathematics to deaf and hard of hearing students at NTID. Miriam has a National Board Certification in Mathematics and Young Adulthood (2008). Miriam has been a T3 (Teachers, Teaching with Technology) Regional Instructor since 2007. Her teaching philosophy “Make mathematics accessible to ALL through the use of Technology”, “… I always believe in the students and my goal is to make them independent thinkers and learners”.
Learn the basics of the TI-30XS MultiView™ scientific calculator to succeed in the HiSet (TASC) math portion. During this time, we’ll emphasize foundational concepts for Mathematics as measured by HiSET and introduces the TI-30XS MultiView™ scientific calculator & TI-Smartview MathPrint software in the context of core algebra and geometry concepts. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to model HiSET strategies and skills for adult learners.
