Karen Crawford, Sheila Butler

Karen Crawford graduated from Purdue University, worked in business for 20 years, and returned to school to receive a MA in education for curriculum/ instruction, specializing in adult education. She has taught ABE/HSE and ELL classes at the Crawfordsville Adult Resource Academy for 8 years. She is the secretary for the IAACE Board of Directors and a PDF for Region 4.

Sheila Butler is the Lead Teacher with Broadview Learning Center. She has over 20 years of experience in the Adult Education field. She is a Bootcamp master and consistently gets the highest number of HSE’s in her organization. She has presented for COABE. She is the current IAACE President, Co-Chair Conference Committee and a PDF for region 8. Provide an overview of the strategies of the National Teaching Skills That Matter Program. We will share an exercise on the 9 Central Skills which are the foundational skills needed for an adult learner to function
effectively. You will experience a demonstration of Karen and Sheila’s favorite Lesson plan and receive a copy of the lesson plan to try in your own class.
